FMT or Fecal Microbiota Transplantation is the transplantation of fecal matter (stool) from a healthy screened donor to the gastrointestinal tract of a patient.
Currently the FDA is practicing enforcement discretion regarding the clinical use of FMT to treat refractory Clostridium difficile colitis. This means that as a clinician I am not able to use FMT to treat any diagnosis other than C. diff infection that is not responding to standard therapy.
For patients and clients who do not have this diagnosis of C. diff infection, I am able to educate and guide the process of at-home FMT including the screening of a suitable donor and the preparation and administration of FMT via enema.
To learn more about the FMT services that I offer my patients please see the FMT FAQ page.
